The Monkey Business rope course at ESCAPE AdventurePlay in Penang, Malaysia |
ESCAPE is a new eco-friendly adventure park in Penang, Malaysia that rallies the mantra of “low tech, high fun”, reintroducing outdoor play to visitors in a natural environment. Setting itself from other adventure parks, ESCAPE has employed eco-friendly practices to ensure environmental sustainability such as rainwater collection, filtration ponds, recycled construction materials and green roofing. As a matter of fact, the manmade buildings in the park are actually repurposed housing for the construction of a nearby dam.

Take an exhilarating jump at Atan’s Leap, or race up the challenging Gecko Tower |
There’s so much to do for kids of all ages at ESCAPE AdventurePlay, the first phase of the development which will later include a water park and tree hotel resort. The park’s attractions encourage physical activity and play in a challenging forest environment where safety is top priority. Harnesses and helmets are provided where needed, and park attendants are stationed to supervise the activity in the courses.
My favorite attractions were the Gecko Tower, a challenging wooden tower with climbing obstacles like exhaust boxes, metal bars and ropes; and the Flying Lemur, an obstacle course through a forest canopy that includes four ziplines, including one that takes you 139 meters across a forest gully! Other attractions include Atan’s Leap (bungee jump), Foxy Burrow (cave course), Go Ape (tree climbing), Monkey Business (rope course) and Jungle Swinger (rope swing).
