Located north of the city center in Puerto Princesa, Hotel Centro is a 111-room contemporary hotel created for those who want to mix business with leisure. The roadside hotel conveniently stands along the National Highway linking the city center to the San Jose Transport Terminal. Robinsons Palawan is also only a 10-minute walk away from this establishment.
My two-night stay at Hotel Centro was comfortable to say the least, but I wished the hotel exuded a more tropical or island vibe befitting a hotel in Palawan. In my opinion, the interior design needs an overhaul, as it somehow feels dated – in a 90s kind of way. I wish they’d refresh the furnishings and perhaps incorporate contemporary designs inspired by Palawan heritage and culture. Design aesthetics aside, Hotel Centro has everything you need from a city hotel.
Amenities
Designed for business travelers, the hotel features five conference venues, business concierge, fitness gym and souvenir shop. For leisure, there’s a pool bar next to a swimming pool and outdoor jacuzzi (Their frozen margaritas are awesome!). The adjacent Mayana Spa offers massages and treatments starting at PHP 650 for the one-hour Mayana Swiss Massage, which combines Swedish and foot reflex. For hotel spa bookings and reservations, call +63 9153278478 or +63 48 4331111.
Room Rates
Room rates start at PHP 6,000 for a standard double or twin room, inclusive of overnight accommodation for two adults (children aged 11 and below are free of charge, if sharing bed with parents), buffet breakfast for two, welcome drinks, solo set dinner voucher, drinks for two at the Soul Pool Bar, roundtrip airport transfers, complimentary laundry/pressing for one (1) set of clothes per day, complimentary use of business center, complimentary early check-in and late check-out, and discounts on food and beverages and spa services.
Meals
Open to walk-in diners, they have great-value dinner buffets at PHP 488 per person for grill and sizzling nights and PHP 588 for pizza and pasta nights. Their pick-and-grill buffet was delicious, especially the all-you-can-eat Hungarian sausages! While I enjoyed their breakfast and dinner buffets, I was disappointed by their in-room dining. The bowl of beef noodles I ordered was too salty and the large-cut fries were average. Perhaps their heavier dishes would have fared better.
How to Get There
Hotel Centro is a few minutes ride from the city center by tricycle at PHP 20 per person. The hotel can arrange private transfers to and from the Puerto Princesa International Airport.
