The moment you step into Urban Sands Hotel in Iloilo City, you’re completely transported away from the buzzing city to – as its name suggests – a beach resort somewhere in Boracay or Cebu. You’ll quickly forget that you’re in the heart of Molo, the historic district known for its beautiful church, town plaza and mansions (all of these just a few minutes walk from the hotel), as well as being the place of origin for the dumpling soup, pansit molo, one of Iloilo’s famous dishes. This boutique hotel doesn’t settle with just being pretty. More importantly, the hotel staff was very courteous, attentive and knowledgeable of the ins and outs of the city. No wonder it’s the number one hotel in Iloilo City on TripAdvisor!
Urban Sands transports you far away to a sophisticated beachside haven.
Urban Sands only has 11 spacious rooms, surrounding a central swimming pool with sun beds and a gazebo. Fruiting dwarf coconut trees complete the atmosphere, complementing the sand-colored concrete pathways.
All rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with a refrigerator with mini bar and snacks; 32-inch LED TV with cable connection and USB port; telephone; hot and cold shower and bathroom amenities; and high-quality beds with comfortable padding and comforters. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a relaxing view of the the garden and pool area outside.
Other facilities include a business center, function room, and spa/massage services offered both in-room and at their poolside gazebo.
Urban sands has only 11 cozy and spacious rooms, surrounding the swimming pool.
Each room comes with plated breakfast for two, served in the room or at the restaurant. Located by the entrance, the modest bar and restaurant are open to both check-in guests and walk-in visitors. They serve flavorful local and intentional food at reasonable prices. My favorites were their herbed chicken in lemon butter sauce and, of course, their meatier version of pansit molo, the Chinese-influenced dumpling soup which originated in the area.
Don’t leave Urban Sands without trying their pansit molo!
Their restaurant serves delicious local and international fare!

How to Get There
Urban Sands is a 40-minute drive from Iloilo International Airport, and only a 15-minutes drive from the port area of the city proper. Getting there from within the city, one may take any jeepney bound for Molo and alight at the fork junction of San Pedro St and MH del Pilar St, where it’s a short walk to the hotel.
