During my 10-day vacation in Guam, I spent my last few days at Guam Reef & Olive Spa Resort, a lovely beach hotel located on the northern end of Tumon Bay, the epicenter of tourism on the island. The two-tower seaside property conveniently sits between the dazzling turquoise waters of Tumon Bay and the center of shopping in the area, so you get the best of both worlds. Popular duty-free shopping malls JP Superstore and T Galleria by DFS are located just across the street.
The hotel sit atop a rock outcrop, lending beautiful ocean views, but consequently doesn’t provide direct access to beach, unlike other beach hotels along Tumon Bay like Pacific Star Resort & Spa. Guests have to walk down a flight of steps to reach the tree-lined beachfront, which offers shaded spots to rest after a swim.

Amenities
The hotel has 427 rooms, housed in two towers: the 18-storey Beach Tower and 12-storey Infinity Tower. I stayed at an ocean-view Infinity Twin Room at the Infinity Tower. The rooms were simple, warm and inviting. My favorite amenity of the my room was the water cooler/dispenser which isn’t only convenient and practical, but also environmentally friendly, compared to the standard hotel practice of providing bottled water.
The best part of the resort was the infinity pool that seamlessly blends with the backdrop of Tumon Bay. Yoga classes are occasionally held here (USD 10 per person for in-house guests, inclusive of yoga mat, towel and bottled water). This is also a great place to watch the sunset over the ocean.
For relaxing massages and treatments, book an appointment at Olive Spa, which has a relaxing ocean-view reception and private rooms, where you can enjoy customized massages starting at USD 120 (PHP 6,247) for their 60-minute Treat Yourself Course.
The hotel also has a fitness center and day care center.

Meals
Guests are spoilt with choice with several options to dine and drink on the property. The hotel has six restaurants, including Main Restaurant & Lounge serving an international buffet, Japanese fusion restaurant Waon, and 18th-floor dining at Top of the Reef with sweeping views of Tumon Bay. Situated right along the main road, the hotel also houses the Guam branch of Eggs ‘n Things, a Hawaiian restaurant known for their breakfast pancakes and loco moco.
By the infinity pool, there’s Gekko the Gecko cafe, bar and karaoke; and by the beach, Infinity Beach Club where you can enjoy cocktails on lounge chairs under the shade of beach parasols in their VIP Zone (for an additional fee; discounts available for check-in guests).
For late night cravings, do not fret! When all the restaurants have already closed, one can always grab a bite at the 24-hour cafe and shop selling sandwiches, snacks, soda and Starbucks coffee at the lobby.
