If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Cebu City without compromising on comfort, convenience and cool city views, search no further than Hop Inn Hotel Cebu City – the first branch of this Thai hotel chain in the Visayas-Mindanao region .
This new budget hotel is the most affordable accommodation you can find within Cebu Business Park, one of the most happening business districts in Cebu City. This business district is where you can find the popular shopping mall Ayala Center Cebu, which is only a five-minute walk away from the hotel.
Hop Inn Cebu City shares a building with the more upscale hotel Holiday Inn Cebu City. Both has great views over the skyscrapers of Cebu Business Park. This no-frills accommodation was designed to provide the bare essentials to budget travelers who spend most their time outside their accommodation exploring the city.
Hop Inn Cebu City has 217 basic rooms that comes in only three types: Standard Double Room, Standard Twin Room and Deluxe Room. The first two room types have a floor area of 16 sqm, while the third one is roomier at 21 sqm.
All the rooms are minimalist with accents of primary colors. They feature comfortable beds with luggage storage space underneath, complimentary bottled water, bath towels, LED TV with cable channels, and a safety deposit box. The en suite toilet and shower has a hair and body wash dispenser, but amenities like toothbrushes and toothpaste are not provided. The rooms are also equipped with free WiFi, which was very fast and stable!
There are no phones to reach the reception; instead, a QR code is provided to access the reception’s Viber number, if you need to communicate with them from your room.
The lobby is at the ground floor and simple reception counter. A large illustrated map of Cebu City on the wall provides guests with a rough idea of what to do and where to eat. Parking space is available within the building.
Accommodation at Hop Inn Cebu City isn’t inclusive of any breakfast, and there are no dining outlets within the hotel. Unfortunately, there are also no standalone places to eat in the immediate vicinity except for local bakeshop Pan de Manila. The nearest convenience store is a 7-Eleven at the AppleOne Tower, which is a 5-minute walk away.
Conveniently, Holiday Inn Cebu City next door has Sevii restaurant on the 7th floor that’s open to walk-in customers, offering delicious buffets for breakfast, merienda and dinner, as well as an a la carte menu. Take the elevator to the third-floor shared parking level and transfer to the Holiday Inn elevator to the seventh floor.
For the most options of cafes and restaurants, walk over to Ayala Center Cebu or to food market Sugbo Mercado. For more sophisticated dining nearby, I would recommend Pig & Palm or Cafe de Fe in Cebu Quincentennial Hotel.
Accommodation at Hop Inn Cebu City starts at ₱ 1,841.25 for a Standard Double Room or Standard Twin Room, good for two adults and one child (inclusive of taxes and service charge). No breakfast provided.
How to Get There
From Mactan-Cebu International Airport, the most convenient way to get to the hotel is by taxi or Grab. Alternatively, one can take the MyBus airport bus from MCIA to SM City Cebu, then transfer to a Guadalupe-Ayala-SM bus at the jeepney terminal. The route of this bus passes right in front of Hop Inn Cebu City but one needs to alight at the bus stop before the hotel. Inform the conductor beforehand of your destination.
