Twin Tides Panglao: Comfy Boutique Hotel near Alona Beach

Twin Tides is conveniently located along the main road yet only a three-minute walk to Alona Beach!

Alona Beach in Barangay Tawala on Panglao Island, off the southwest coast of the mainland, is the epicenter of tourism in Bohol province – a top tourist destination known for its diverse attractions from heritage sites to unique landscapes to amazing wildlife both under and above the water.

Among the best places to stay here is Twin Tides Panglao, conveniently located right along the main road near variety of restaurants, convenience stores, fast food chains, and other tourism establishments. The offshore reefs around the island make for excellent scuba diving and freediving. Panglao is also the jump-off point to the pristine white-sand island of Balicasag and dolphin-watching excursions around the Bohol Sea.

The popular beach town is a convenient home base for exploring the island, especially if you’re arriving or departing by plane as the Panglao International Airport is nearby. Last year, UNESCO declared Bohol as the country’s first Global Geopark for its outstanding geological heritage, as evidenced by incredible geosites like the cone karst formations of the Chocolate Hills.

The inviting reception area

Fronted by a spacious driveway and ample parking space (ideal for those taking van tours or driving their own vehicle), Twin Tides Panglao features 23 modern guest rooms with sky blue accents. Past the first-floor lobby, there’s a restaurant and bar that leads to the grassy backyard has a small dipping pool to cool off on hot days.

I stayed in a Queen Executive Room, a 20-square meter room with a king size bed good for two people and en suite bathroom. Among the in-room amenities are a 43-inch LED TV with cable channels, personal refrigerator, electric kettle, hair dyer and complimentary wifi. The interior design is modern and minimalist with wooden furnishings to add warmth and pops of their sky-blue brand color for some youthful vibe.

Perfect for hot summer days!

Dining Options

For those who booked accommodations with breakfast, meals are served at the first-floor restaurant. They offer the standard Filipino silog rice meals and omelettes, however the most interesting morning option is their breakfast ramen made with instant noodles and kimchi. Don’t expect an authentic ramen, but it was quite tasty and filling to have it at the start of the day.

How to Get There

Twin Tides Panglao is only a 10-minute drive from Panglao International Airport, and 35-minute drive from Tagbilaran City Sea Port, which has fastcrafts linking Bohol and Cebu. A hiring a tricycle from the sea port to Alona Beach costs ₱300 to 400, so when traveling solo I usually rent a scooter from Mario Motor Rental (Tel. +63 9298556357 or +63 9565642269) for ₱350 per day (exclusive of fuel consumption). This scooter rental shop is conveniently located at the sea port area, so one could get your own pair of wheels as soon as you get off the boat in Tagbilaran City.
